The Time Traveler's Wife, Audrey Niffenegger

I read this book while I was in college. It is amazing. (I think I say that about a lot of books...) It's really different and I like when books challenge a conventional way of thinking; this book definitely does that.

As it's been a while since I read it, the specific details are gone, but I do remember the basic premise. A librarian named Henry travels through time and meets his future wife when she is a young girl. Clare, the woman, meets Henry outside her house and as he is an older man (I think he's 20 something when they meet), she takes a liking to him slowly. When they finally meet without him being a time-traveler, the fall deeper in love and are married.

They face many challenges together and Clare kind of grows up with him coming to visit her from the future. The love story is sweet and tender. I remember thinking that Henry was a dream-boat.

Niffenegger has a gift of writing and the concept behind the book is fascinating. I always thought it would make a great movie, but now that I think about it, I like just having my own visualizations of everything within my head.

This is on my list of "To Re-read" books for the summer.
